I just watched a news story about my employer – a health insurance company – having to change a policy because someone went to the attorney general. That in itself is not the issue. What I really take major issue with is the way the news makes us out to be the bad guy. They interviewed a woman who said "they only care about their money, not my health" or something to that effect. Here is the deal. It isn't OUR money that we are worried about. We are brokers for your employer. So if you don't like what we do, perhaps you should talk to your employer. In most cases, they are the ones that choose your insurance carrier for you, they are the ones that determine what you get covered and what you don't, and they are the ones that tell us what we can and can't do. So if you aren't happy, instead of going to the news and saying things that you don't really know to be true, perhaps you could talk to the people who really can make the changes and currently pay your salary.
