I admit, I love Craigslist. It is fantastic. For the most part. But, on occasion, there is some shady dealing that go on.
For example, Monday I ordered a diaper bag from LL Bean. I then saw that exact same diaper bag from LL Bean on Craigslist new in the plastic bag on Tuesday morning. The seller lived nearby me, so not even spending money on the gas, it was 20 dollars cheaper. I thought, well, I will get this one, and send back the ordered one. Even if I have to eat the shipping and handling, I will still be getting a deal. So, I email the woman, she emails me back. We talk on the phone at 12:30 and she gives me directions, and make arrangements for a 4pm pick up.
Now, ironically, one of my girlfriends was thinking about getting that same bag. Before I had decided to make my little transaction, I showed her the listing. We did not discuss the purchasing. And she had emailed the woman as well.
At 2:30, after I had already made arrangements to purchase the item at 12:30, my girlfriend emails me to tell me that she was getting multiple emails from the seller asking if she still wanted the bag. As in, if my girlfriend said yes, she could have gone over and gotten it before 4, and my deal would be off.
I know there are no real "rules" but come on. You were going to make your 30 bucks either way, did you desperately need it before 4pm? I don't know, I just think it is shady. Either way, I got the bag, but it kind of irked me.

love "the list" too. but don't love that some folks don't know the etiquette and that others use it as a gripe festival. on a happier note if you want some good deals - my sister in law's consignment sale (weepeats) is next week at the dome. weepeats.net.
only go if you like the thrill of competition! (there are hundreds of women who go stand in line to get in first to this sale. it's madness but fun!)
