Book Fair

There was a book fair at work today. And it reminded me of when I was a kid and we used to get the Scholastic Books paper newsletter and could order books that were delivered to you in school. I loved it.

I think it is kind of hilarious that they hold a book fair in the atrium of our building. It's like scholastic books for adults. (but the books aren't nearly as good...)

do you remember the posters? if you got so many books you'd get a poster of some kittens or a couple of bear cubs or something? sometimes they would have inspirational quotes on them? i was desperate to get enough books so i could get a poster. i guess marketing gimmicks work very well on kids...

I do remember the posters.

Once I got a strawberry shortake book that came with a record for read along, and the record was white and pink with a portrait of strawberry walking in the woods in the snow (which was also an illustration in the book). It was a favorite of mine for years.
